Carriers launch rescue fares and recruitment events following Flybe collapse

Several carriers have launched rescue fares for customers affected by the collapse of Flybe over the weekend.

Easyjet is offering domestic and international fares including a 15kg hold bag, for customers who present their original Flybe booking reference, and British Airways has launched discounted one-way fares on selected routes. Ryanair also said that it had launched rescue fares


Amsterdam Schiphol to build new baggage basement

Amsterdam Schiphol airport is to build a new baggage basement alongside the renovation of existing systems, in a move which it says is required to “continue guaranteeing baggage reliability”.

The airport said that building the brand new basement means that its existing baggage system – substantial sections of which are due for replacement – can be replaced without causing disruptions to airlines and passengers.


New Saudi Stopover Visa offers free hotel stay

Earlier this week, Saudi Arabia introduced a new free Stopover Visa for those transiting through the kingdom onboard either Saudia or Flynas.

The Stopover Visa will allow passengers to stay in the country for up to 96 hours, and will be automatically available through the airline’s booking platforms for all passengers traveling to their final destination on Saudia or Flynas airlines.

The application process can be completed in under three minutes and can be applied for up to 90 days before travel.

Holders of this visa will be also eligible for a complimentary one-night hotel stay during their stopover if they are flying using the country’s national carrier of Saudia.
