For business travellers, time is always precious, so it’s important to make the most of it and use it wisely. Our recent journey from Dundee to London on the Caledonian Sleeper showed us how travel can actually work around your schedule rather than disrupt it, something that is essential for busy business travellers.
We boarded the train at Dundee station at 11.09pm on a Friday night and settled into our Twin Club En Suite room. By the time we arrived in London Euston at around 8am on Saturday morning, we felt rested, well-fed, and ready for the day ahead.
Our room had two bunk beds with Glencraft mattresses, an ensuite toilet and shower, and a handy sink area. Sleep kits with earplugs and eye masks helped us switch off for the night while power sockets helped keep our devices charged for the next day. Scottish branded Mackie’s chocolate bars on our pillows was a small but thoughtful touch.
The onboard Wi-Fi made it easy to wrap up any final emails and organise meeting details while on our way to London.

Club Car Access and Dinner on the Move
With a Club room, you have access to the Club Car for meals, snacks and drinks. While Room service is also available, we opted to visit the comfortable and well decorated Club Car for a late-night bite before bed. After browsing the menu which included dishes such as Macsween’s haggis, neeps and tatties with a whisky sauce, and Lammermuir smoked cheddar mac and cheese, we chose the three cheese toastie with tortilla chips which was simple and exactly what we needed. It arrived hot and fresh, serving as the perfect warm snack before bed.
Arriving into London
After a restful sleep in our temperature-controlled cabin, we headed back to the Club Car for breakfast in the morning. The menu included a full Scottish breakfast, hot rolls options, continental choices and a vegetarian breakfast. We also had our pick of tea, coffee, orange juice and apple juice. The food was once again hot, fresh, and filling. It was a relaxed and easy start before stepping out into London Euston Station well-fed and ready for the day.

An added bonus for Club guests is that they can use the Caledonian Sleeper Lounge at Euston Station. This is a real asset for business travellers. The lounge offers continental breakfast items, hot and cold drinks, clean and spacious shower facilities, and comfortable seating where you can prepare for the day or take a moment to regroup.
We also used the lounge in the evening before our return journey to Dundee. Being able to shower and unwind before boarding was a welcome benefit after a day in the city. The Scottish snacks in the lounge were a nice reminder of home, including items such as Taylor’s crisps, Scottish shortbread, and Irn-Bru.
Staff on board and in the lounges were consistently friendly and helpful. It made both journeys feel smooth and enjoyable from start to finish.
